26-34-1. Short title. This act is known as the "Uniform Determination of Death Act."

26-34-2. Definition of death -- Determination of death. (1) An individual who has sustained either: (a) irreversible cessation of circulatory and respiratory functions; or (b) irreversible cessation of all functions of the entire brain, including the brain stem; is dead. (2) A determination of death must be made in accordance with accepted medical standards. Enacted by Chapter 276, 1989 General Session
